BF2 and BF3 escort vehicles
Transport assistance is usually called upon to perform exceptional transports.
For this type of exceptional transport, transport assistance uses specially equipped and adapted vehicles.
Usually these types of escort vehicles are yellow in color and equipped with flashing lights, red / white markings and convoi exceptionnel markings.
Furthermore, there are various equipment available in these vehicles that are required for this type heavy transport assignments. Some things are explained further below.
BF2 and BF3 escort vehicles
The abbreviation "BF" stands for "Begleitungs Fahrzeug" (translated into English: escort vehicle).
These are divided into two categories, and are as follows the BF2 and BF3.

The BF2 category is usually a passenger car (version), but can also be a van.
These vehicles should be fitted with radio communication equipment as standard barrage tools.
There must also be a telephone on board.
The BF2 version is usually used for simple accompaniment assignments.

The BF3 version is used in somewhat more complex guidance assignments. The BF3 version is
always a van. These vehicles have more extensive equipment on board such as: telephone, radio communication equipment, barrage tools for both day and night and more extensive signaling
systems.

BF4 escort vehicle (From 2017 in Germany)
From 2017, in Germany, for example, transports to and from wind farms and / or transport of bulky and heavy goods, 4th generation escort vehicles, the BF4 version, will be prescribed.

The BF4 version can display existing road signs to all four vehicle sides by means of the road sign installation.
With the BF4 version, all police replacement measures can be covered for heavy transports.
The advantage of this is when police deployment is delayed or fails, this can be accommodated with
the use of BF4 escort vehicles.
BF2 escort vehicle (vans)
BF3 escort vehicles (with signaling systems)
BF4 escort vehicle (with signaling system to be used on all four vehicle sides.)
This type of escort van is used in Germany from 2017.
